Litter Blitz

On Wednesday we had the 'Great Litter Blitz'.  Each class was assigned a street around the area, to go and pick up rubbish in.  There were five golden tickets hidden and... our Devonte found one!  It was very exciting.  Have a look at some photos from the day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Matariki 2019

This year the Junior School celebrated Matariki together.  We thought about the things that make Matariki special and how it is celebrated.  Some of these things included - whanau time, kai, singing and dancing, playing games and being together.  Each classroom had a different station which reflected one of these things.

Piwakawaka visits their big buddies!

We are working with some children from Waikowhai Intermediate School to help improve our writing.  We have great fun with lots of learning on the way.  Today we were lucky enough to visit Waikowhai Intermediate with our big buddies.  They came and picked us up from school, and we walked down together.  We got to play on TWO playgrounds, have a special morning tea and read books with our buddies.  During this time we were talking, talking, talking and building relationships.  All of this is a great motivation for our writing as well as a chance to build some important friendships.

 

 

 

 

 

Smart footprint

We have been learning about things that are safe to share on the Internet.  During Cybersmart this week our task was to make a slideshow that was OK to be shared.  We could share our first name and our school.  We could share learning from our classroom and online projects we had completed.  We did a great job.  Have a look!

Our Online Neighbours

Today we watched a video about some rules to follow when on the Internet.

We talked about:

1. Ask your parents first.

2. Stick to the places that are right for you.

3. Talk to people you know.

Children then had to draw a picture showing themselves doing one of these things.

Ask your child about their image.

Cybersmart

Gerhard has been in this week teaching us about our Digital Footprint.  He has been teaching us about what is safe and not safe to share about ourselves on the Internet.  We had to sort objects into Public and Private, and then share five things about ourselves that were safe to share.  Have a look at our learning.
